A Commonsense Approach to Weight Management and Wellness

NOTES: I counsel patients with a variety of health issues that may or may not be related to weight. Eating for enjoyment and for better health applies to all of us!

I serve all of Virginia and Washington DC via telehealth. Contact me for details.

Food is what keeps us alive. We love eating for a reason: survival. Even so, our culture tends to vilify eating, embracing underweight, undernourished bodies as the gold standard, and placing certain foods in “good” and “bad" categories. Popular diets often restrict entire food groups, keeping us from important nutrients and the simple enjoyment of eating. Diet promoters on TV display low-calorie salads and promote vigorous exercise as the way to lose weight, as if that’s the only way. No wonder more people than ever have trouble staying at a healthy weight. We humans are not wired for such demands and restrictions. We are wired for happiness and health. Food plays a crucial role in both.

Developing a healthy attitude towards eating is crucial to successful weight management. Eating should be embraced and enjoyed, without guilt. When we eat well, we feel more energetic and tend to move more, making us even healthier. Everything falls into place.

If you are ready to adopt a healthy attitude towards eating, while getting to or maintaining a healthy weight, I would like to help you achieve your goals. I offer no “good” and “bad” food lists, and there is no shame or judgement. My counseling methods are based on the science of weight management, not on gimmicks or fads. My ultimate goal is to help people lead healthier and happier lives. Food has that much power. That power is within your reach.
